Programs of Study
Undergraduate degrees at SCS are offered through Howard-Payne University. The following degrees are available at the undergraduate level:
- Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Christian Studies
- Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Youth Ministry
- Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Cross-Cultural Studies
- Bachelor of Arts and Applied Science (B.A.A.S.) in Christian Studies
Students enrolled in the B.A. in Christian Studies program may specialize in Bible, Practical Theology, or Religious Education. The B.A.A.S. is designed to offer students with vocational-technical training the opportunity to obtain a baccalaureate degree. For more information, please contact SCS.

Financial Aid
A fundamental principle for the School of Christian Studies is to provide financially accessible opportunities for ministry preparation. Toward this end, SCS offers the following resources.
All undergraduate students who wish to receive financial aid should complete the General Scholarship Application for undergraduate students each academic year.

Christian Leadership Scholarship: The purpose of the Christian Leadership Scholarship is to provide affordable theological education to students in South Texas. Any current SCS student is eligible to apply for the CLS. The amount of the CLS is $180 per credit hour for undergraduate students. The scholarship is made possible through SCS endowment funds. Students wishing to apply for the CLS should complete the General Scholarship Application.

BGCT Ministerial Tuition Assistance Program: The Baptist General Convention of Texas provides scholarship funds for ministerial students who are members of participating churches. The amount of the BGCT Ministerial Tuition Assistance Program is $20 per credit hour. Students wishing to apply for, or continue receiving this assitance should complete the following forms:

: completed each subsequent spring semester - SCS Ministerial Scholarship: The South Texas School of Christian Studies provides scholarship funds for all ministerial students, regardless of denominational affiliation, who are not eligible to participate in the BGCT Ministerial Tuition Assistance Program. The amount of the SCS Ministerial Scholarship is $20 per credit hour. Students wishing to apply for, or continue receiving this assitance should complete the following forms:

With Christian Leadership Scholarship: $90 per credit hour
With CLS and Ministerial Scholarship $70 per credit hour
Course Audit: $45 per credit hour

Student Fee: $25 per semester

Degree Requirements
Students normally take general education courses at an approved college and complete their coursework at SCS.
- General education courses may be taken at TAMU-CC, Del Mar College, Coastal Bend College, or other approved college.
- Degree minors may be completed at SCS
- Degree minors approved by HPU may be transferred.
- SCS offers biblical Greek and Hebrew, which may satisfy foreign language requirements.
