About Blackboard

Blackboard is an online course management system that can be used to support flexible teaching and learning in traditional and distance courses. It provides tools and facilities for online course management, content management and sharing, assessment management, and online collaboration and communication.

Course instructors can use Blackboard to post grades, information, and assignments. Instructors can also use Blackboard to communicate with students, host discussions, and receive assignments.

Students can use Blackboard to check grades, receive information and assignments from instructors, turn in completed assignments, and communicate with classmates. Students can also use Blackboard to participate in hosted discussions.

Blackboard for Logsdon Seminary Students

If you are a Logsdon Seminary student and need to access Blackboard for the first time, follow the directions below.

  1. Navigate to http://hsubb.hsutx.edu
  2. Click the "Create Account" button
  3. Enter the required information
  4. Click the "Submit" button
  5. Sign in with your new username and password

To enroll in a course, click on the "Courses" tab and browse the course catalog or use the "Course Search" field to locate a course. Once you have located the correct course and have the necessary information, click the "Enroll" button to enroll in the course. If your course requires a password to enroll, please contact your instructor.

Blackboard for Howard Payne Students

If you are a Howard Payne student and need to access Blackboard for the first time, follow the directions below.

  1. Navigate to http://bb2.hputx.edu
  2. Click on "User Login"
  3. Enter Username: "Firstname.Lastname" (ex. John.Smith)
  4. Enter Password: "MMDDYYYY" If you were born January-September, omit the leading zero. (ex. 121985 if you were born on January 2, 1985)
  5. Once you have successfully logged in, be sure to change your password and update your profile with a current e-mail address. To change your password and update your profile, click on the "Personal Information" link under the "Tools" menu.
